Because of our body width we then have some unique features starting with our chassis which is designed for Australian Roads and has extras like a chassis block the spring hangers attach to, this shares the load of the axles over a greater length and eliminates chassis cracking. It is important to recognise that statements containing phrases like "Australian Compliant" and "Designed for Australian Conditions" can sometimes be a little misleading. Let me explain... If a fifth wheeler is designed for one marketplace, e.g. USA and then converted for another marketplace, e.g. Australia; logically you would agree it must still have the design characteristics of the original country. Here at Newcastle RVs we design every fifth wheel trailer from the wheels up to suit Australian Conditions, while we build in the USA for economical reasons we do not build a American trailer. We never have simply mirror imaged a USA floor plan, for us that does not work. The standards in Australia are different to the USA so by mirroring a USA floor plan you still have a USA trailer with the door on the other side. Let us look at the basic production techniques that stand out... All Play Mor fifth wheelers are designed in Australia.  This is a sign of our commitment as Australia's fifth wheeler leader. Naturally all fifth wheelers are built with a body width of 7' 6" so when we install the awning, entry assist handle, mudguards, exterior lights, gutter rails and hot water service we are under the 8' 2 1/2" or 2500 mms allowable in Australia.    Even our  opposing slide room layouts are under the maximum width available. The entry door is on the left hand side as you would expect with an Australian fifth wheeler. The strength of our fifth wheelers starts with two strong "I" Beam chassis rails which creates greater strength.   We use an RHS chassis block to support our spring hangers.  This spreads the load on the chassis rails over a greater distance and eliminates chassis cracking common with USA trailers. We build from the "I" beam chassis an outrigger system to support the side walls. This gives greater strength to the overall fifth wheeler construction. All Play Mor fifth wheelers are little heavier than most because we use extra steel in the chassis so they withstand Australian road conditions. The front goose neck area is reinforced to withstand the demands of our road network. Our larger fifth wheelers with an ATM over 4.5 tonne require an air brake systems to be installed as a part of our Australian Compliance 33613. This work is carried out in our factory using Australian Compliant springs and "S" Cam air brakes from Rogers Axles in Queensland. We build using a timber frame with laminated side wall construction. This eliminates, substantially, condensation that is prevalent in Aluminium framed fifth wheelers. This construction really adds very little to the overall weight. The other consideration with a timber frame is it allows some flex unlike Aluminium which does not give unless it cracks. Our roof uses a full "roof truss" system for added strength and durability. All our fifth wheelers use a high gloss 'Lumilux 4000' fibreglass siding which is easier to maintain, and looks great.
